2021 is a Book waiting for you to write it

2020 was a year of learning for lots of us. 2020 was a huge challenge for many, schools closed, work shut down, travel was restricted, we couldn't hang out with friends and family without restrictions, things we could never have dreamed in our worst nightmares became reality.

During the year I thought lots about challenges I've faced in life, there have been a few, and it came to me that from the biggest challenges come the best stories for the future.

The story about someone conquering Mount Everest doesn't happen until they reach the summit. It's not an easy journey to get there but the preparation gets done, then planning, then one step at a time that mountain gets conqured and the story unfolds. That's like life.

2020 was quite the mountain for many of us, but we made it through, we made it to the summit of the mountain, we got to December 31st, 2020 and now there is a beautiful view for us to admire; a whole fresh year.

It's January 1st 2021. A whole brand new year!

As I sit down with my first coffee of the year, I am so excited for what's ahead yet I'm scared. I'm scared to screw up. I have huge goals, I have the plan in place to create new habits, and what if I screw up on this very first day.

I know I am not alone in feeling this way and that's why I thought I would share this thought.

So often I've given up because the journey to get somewhere or get something done didn't go perfectly but that's not really how life is.

That was when it came to me that life is a series of books, when you read a book you don't stop because the character faces a challenge, you keep reading to see what happens because of the challenge.

That's life... there are going to be challenges, it's not going to go perfectly but every page is a brand new day, a fresh start.

Our life is a series of books. Every Year is a new book. Every month is a new chapter. Every week is a new page. Every day is a new paragraph and each hour is just a sentence.

A sentence doesn't shape the entire story, you might wonder why the sentence doesn't read quite so smoothly in the paragraph but don't let the one hour that's gone wrong affect your your whole year or your whole life.

I've written this post for myself and if someone else finds value in it then I give thanks for that. I know things aren't going to be perfect in 2021. Infact, I opened the curtains at 8am on January 1st and the curtain rail fell down, but, is that going to be what I remember on December 31st, 2021 or am I going to be too busy reading the rest of the book and looking forward to the next book?

I'm going to have to remind myself to just keep going lots and I'm so thankful for this vision as I head in to 2021, I can't wait to read my 2021 story.
